Former Home of TeaNY to Become 'The Good Kind' Danish Cafe | Bowery Boogie

It appears the former home of Moby’s TeaNY on Rivington Street has finally nailed down a permanent tenant. Another cafe type.

The Good Kind inked a ten-year lease on June 1 to take over the sub-grade commercial space at 90 Rivington. It’s a Danish-style cafe concept run by principal Anna Poulsen, and will serve Brownsville Roasters coffee, along with a Scandinavian menu of breads, pastries, salads, and sandwiches prepared by Claus Meyer, a Nordic chef who’s co-owner of Noma restaurant in Copenhagen.

TeaNY, the vegan tea spot co-founded by Moby and his then-girlfriend Kelly Tisdale, opened way back in May 2002. It lasted some thirteen years before its demise in December 2015. A devastating fire in 2009, Health Department closures, alleged tax problems, and management changes plagued its latter years on the block. At one point, the owner of Sticky’s Finger Joint was planning to open Terrific Values, a “food and beverage retail experiential concept.” There was a collage pimping its arrival for months last year. Yet it never did. Instead, Chris Marte briefly occupied the store as campaign headquarters during his City Council run last fall.
