18 companies submit proposals for mobile payment service

According to the proposal scrutinizing committee, 18 companies including six local banks have submitted their proposals for the mobile payment service of Internal Revenue Department (IRD).

The IRD invited mobile monetary businesses and banks to submit their proposals for modern digital banking (i-banking and mobile banking) and mobile payment in order that the people can pay their taxes easily. The deadline for the tender is August 30.



Applicants are three mobile wallet service providers, six banks, five technical providers working for mobile monetary organizations, three IT service companies and Myanmar Posts and Telecommunication (MPT). Six banks are: Myanmar Citizens Bank, First Private Bank, Myanmar Apex Bank, Asia Green Development Bank, Tun Commercial Bank and Cooperatives Bank.

The IRD’s proposal scrutinizing committee will choose applicants in accord with the central bank’s directives for mobile banking, rules for mobile monetary services, the existing financial management rules, directives and the existing taxation law and procedures.

Tender winner will have to offer services for mobile payments for commercial tax, special good tax and income taxes.
