The Embassy of Japan in Qatar, in collaboration with Japan Foundation, has donated 37 Japan-related books to Tariq Bin Ziyad Independent Secondary School for Boys with the aim to promote the understanding of Japan and its culture in Qatar.
Tariq Bin Ziyad Independent Secondary School for Boys has been offering Japanese language classes since 2012 and currently has 32 students studying Japanese language and culture. The donated books include Japanese language textbooks, children’s books, manga, Japanese modern literature in Arabic and art related books.
During the donation event, Ambassador of Japan to Qatar HE Seiichi Otsuka awarded certificate of commendation to the school’s Principal Hamad al Mannai in recognition of his contributions to strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and Qatar through Japanese language education.
Ambassador Otsuka also praised the school and its administration for their commitment to teaching the Japanese language, which underscores Qatar’s efforts to boost cooperation in the educational field, as agreed upon during the visit of the Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani to Japan in January this year.
For his part, the principal hailed the Japanese educational system, wishing that more Qatari students would visit Japan to see and learn first-hand from the advanced school system in the country.
