With the rising demand for medical supplies, Qatar based freight forwarder Bin Yousef Cargo has started regular charter operations from various Chinese ports to Doha, as well as to Europe.

As ocean freight continues to be disrupted and air cargo options severely restricted in light of the recent COVID-19 pandemic, an exclusive charter for accommodating these urgent shipments, was the best option for time-critical logistics. Each of these B – 777/200 freighters were loaded with over 100 tons of medical supplies including face masks, gloves, various PPEs, bed sheets etc. Director of Cargo Operations at Bin Yousef Cargo Jiju Haneef said “While many of the region’s freight forwarders have been struggling to cope with the impacts of the pandemic situation, we have been working hard to keep our operations afloat and to ensure our client’s shipments are transported to their final destinations as scheduled.

Our team was able to consolidate cargo from various suppliers in China. We organized all the export documents and coordinated these charters in record time while adhering to the safety regulations and restrictions imposed by both the Governments in China and Qatar. Besides air freight, we were able to offer value-added services at the origin such as local export collection, documentation support, licensing and Dangerous Goods (DG) approval.   These successful charters are a testament to the fact that our organization is ready to meet logistics challenges of any nature and scale, with its agility and adaptive nature. An increase in the number of freighter flights has been observed globally, and this should help ease the current outbound capacity strain in China.”

Bin Yousef Cargo also played a vital role in setting up treatment centres in Al Wakra and Al Khor regions in Qatar, where the company handled the logistics of critical tent materials required for these projects. These centres will provide essential medical and nursing services for the testing and treatment of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). In the wake of the pandemic, Bin Yousef Cargo aims to support all companies and organizations in Qatar and across the globe by providing customizable freight solutions for time-critical shipments via their extensive networks in over 180 countries.
