What is Splinterlands?
Created in 2018, Splinterlands is a decentralized video game that tries to handle a concept similar to the Magic the Gathering and Hearthstone games.
The idea of the video game is for users to gather a collection of cards with different characters, various characteristics and abilities in order to face other players. The blockchain allows each user to be the owner of their letter and to be able to exchange or sell them, without going through any filter of the company.
Digital charts can be traded or sold on the video game’s own website or through the market to NFT based on Ethereum, OpenSea, where tokens can be sold for ether (ETH). Similarly, NFTs can be traded on Peakmonsters. and Monstermarker.io.
The creators of Splinterlands wanted to make a difference with Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh !, since the cards in those games can only be traded or sold physically.
“With blockchain, we can now have the best of both worlds, where players can really own their digital assets,” the company highlights in your website.
In the beginning, Splinterlands had been developed for the Steem community, currently the game operates on the Hive blockchain.
Splinterlands and Venezuela
According to Splinterlands data for 2019, the video game gained popularity in Venezuela, in fact, he became the third country with the highest participation in the video game, behind the United States and China.
5.5% of Spliterlands players were from Venezuela. The first place was occupied by the United States with 46.2%, followed by China with 19.8% of users.
The reason that could have motivated the growth of Spliterlands in Venezuela is that it allows you to earn money with the sale of digital cards. As is known, the South American country is going through one of the greatest economic crises in its history, so its inhabitants are looking for alternatives that allow them to survive.
Something similar happens in the South American country with the game Axie Infinity, since in that region it leads the downloads of the game, as reported by CriptoNoticias.
At the beginning of July, the game handled the market with the highest commercial volume among collectibles, with more than 200 million dollars.
