UK 3rd for ETH ownership as crypto adoption rises 1% in December: survey

UK crypto enthusiasts were busy consolidating and rebalancing during the last gasp of 2021. Finder.com surveyed 2,013 internet users in the UK in December 2021 with varying results.
Since the last survey conducted in October 2021, UK crypto ownership has increased by 1 percentage point from 5.2% to 6.1%, while Ethere (ETH) dominance continues to decline. manifest.
Coming in at number three, just behind Singapore and Australia, British ownership of Ether among crypto holders consolidated at 32.9%, with XRP being the third most widely held crypto at 17.4%.
Curiously, interest in the 27 countries surveyed by Finder.com shows that the global average adoption rate for Ether has increased from 28.2% in October to 24.4% in December. UK ETH holders hold the line as global ETH ownership declines.
There are no prizes for guessing the UK’s most popular cryptocurrency. Bitcoin (BTC) takes the top spot at 42.8%, but it also shows weakness. While a figure of 42.8% almost reflects Bitcoin’s dominance ratio, it has fallen from highs of 56.7%.
The overall cryptocurrency market fell significantly in December as analyst forecasts missed the mark of $100,000 BTC in 2021. Dominant crypto sentiment has been bearish since BTC hit 42,000 $ early December.
It looks like the macro bearish trend is mirroring itself in the crypto behavior of the UK. Some portfolio selling and rebalancing took place heading into the new year; Ownership of Bitcoin fell, Solana (SOL) soared to 15% ownership and Dogecoin (DOGE) gained 1%.
Curiously, Bitcoin ownership has slipped around the world. Only one country saw its Bitcoin ownership percentage increase from October to December, with Australia’s BTC dominance rising to 72.7%. It was also the country with the highest proportion of crypto owners holding Bitcoin in the world.

In line with reports from TBEN in October last year, emerging markets continue to show the strongest indicators of bubbling cryptocurrency adoption. Russia, Colombia, the Philippines, and India were among the top five countries for crypto ownership growth in December. Detailed statistics and information are expected later this month.
The UK, however, is dragging its feet for crypto growth rates, with an upward trend of just 1%. While still positive, the average global growth in crypto ownership increased by 4.3%, placing the UK in the bottom five of the countries surveyed.
